TV Pitchman Billy Mays Dies At 50
It’s a poor week to be even quasi-famous. Billy Mays was found dead in his Tampa home this dawn. Early reports are saying he suffered a head injury during a flight landing yesterday which the FAA is saying was his fault for not wearing a seat belt.
After the flight Billy told FOX 13 in Tampa that something struck him in the head — here’s Billy’s actual quote: “All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started
We called the FAA for comment, and a spokesperson told us, “The passenger needs to wear a seat belt during landing and he didn’t.”
So US Airways and the FAA are playing CYA to avoid a huge lawsuit..that will no doubt be coming soon anyway. And Billy’s statement clearly said something fell on his head..nothing to do with him being restrained properly.
