Jessica Simpson: Shaves Her Beard In May Esquire

Are photographers really out of ideas? I can’t think of any other reason for having celebs, who are nowhere near the status or class of the stars they are trying to be, recreate pictures of the past.

The latest is Jessica Simpson recreating an Esquire shot of Italian actress Virna Lisi that was taken in 1965 by George Lois. Lois explained his reasoning for the shot at a 2005 magazine

conference saying, “I spoofed the upcoming woman’s movement by slapping shaving cream on the beautiful blonde Italian actress Virna Lisi [because] no American beauty had the [bleeps] to pose for it.”

Are we coming up on another woman’s movement that I’m unaware of? Jess, that’s cool whether you need to shave your face but do it somewhere besides the cover of a magazine!
