The ‘Sex And The City: The Movie’ actress has been in a relationship with education activist Christine Marinoni since 2003, and insists the couple are a real “partnership”.

Nixon said: “I have to say that in terms of the specific person I’m with I guess I do feel that the ideal man is a woman. I feel that she’s much more intuitive about what’s going on with me. She is much more willing to treat it like a partnership.”

- who has two children, 11-year-old Samantha and five-year-old Charles, with her musician ex-boyfriend Danny Mozes - is not certain whether she would love Marinoni whether she was a man.

She said: “I’m in love with her considering she’s her. It’s hard to know whether I’d be in love with her whether she were a man. whether she were a man, would she be different? Would she still be that intuitive? Would she still be that devoted?”
